ProductMapper

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This policy explains what data ProductMapper collects when you use our website, dashboard, and API, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We built ProductMapper to resolve product identifiers, not to build profiles of the people using it - this policy reflects that.

Information we collect

We collect three categories of data:

  • Account information. Your email address and authentication details, handled by our identity provider when you sign up or sign in. If you belong to an organization, we also store your role and membership within it.
  • Billing information. When you subscribe to a paid plan or purchase a credit pack, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number - we retain only what's needed to manage your subscription, such as your plan, billing status, and transaction history.
  • Usage data. The identifiers you look up (barcodes, ASINs, titles) and the results returned, stored as your lookup history so you can revisit past results and so repeated lookups resolve instantly. If you generate a personal API key, we store a one-way hash of it - never the key itself - along with when it was last used.

How we use your information

We use the data above to:

  • Operate your account, authenticate your sessions, and enforce your plan's usage limits.
  • Process payments and send billing-related emails (receipts, renewal notices).
  • Maintain your lookup history and mapping results inside your own account.
  • Respond to support requests you send through our contact form.
  • Monitor the service for errors and abuse, and keep it reliable and secure.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your lookup history to build advertising profiles.

Third parties we work with

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run ProductMapper, each of whom only receives the data necessary to perform their function:

  • Authentication provider - manages sign-in and account security.
  • Stripe - processes payments and manages subscriptions.
  • Email delivery provider - sends transactional emails such as receipts and confirmations.
  • Error monitoring - helps us detect and fix issues in the service; this may include limited technical details about a request that failed, never your lookup content.

Data retention

We keep your account and billing data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal and accounting requirements. Lookup history is retained so it remains useful to you, but you can request deletion of your history or your entire account at any time.

Your rights

Depending on where you're located, you may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate account information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Export your lookup history and mapping results.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, reach out through our contact page. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Data security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including encrypted connections, hashed credentials for API keys, and access controls limiting who inside our team can view account data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

Cookies

We use cookies for authentication and to keep the service working correctly. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as ProductMapper evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
